| TCU offers a curriculum to prepare students for admission to programs
leading to doctoral degrees in the following health professions:
dentistry (D.D.S.), medicine (M.D.), optometry (O.D.) osteopathy
(D.O.) podiatric medicine (D.P.M.) and veterinary medicine (D.V.M.).
The PreHealth Professions Program also assists those interested
in most related health fields (e.g., physician assistant, pharmacy).
Those interested in physical therapy and occupational therapy
should contact the Kinesiology Department.
The prehealth program is a career
track at TCU, not a major. Our prehealth students may major in
any subject and take the necessary courses as elective hours or
as a minor for admission to a professional health school. Thus,
the incoming undergraduate student has the opportunity to explore
many career options as well as prepare for admission to post-baccalaureate
programs.
We are housed in the Sid W. Richardson
Building (SWR) room 258. Our suite is located in the Northwest
corner of the courtyard that conjoins Winton Scott Hall (WSH)
and SWR. Denise Bennett is the Academic Program Specialist to
the program. Please call (817) 257-MEDS or email Denise Bennett
at you have specific questions.

The TCU Health
Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) consists of six faculty
members who teach courses normally taken by students in the program.
The duties of the committee are to advise students on their curriculum
at least once a semester, to provide counseling regarding the
health professions, and to evaluate, both for the student and
for the professional schools, the student's suitability for entering
the profession. The student is responsible for consulting with
a member of HPAC at least once a semester, for remaining aware
of announcements regarding the program, and for preparing an evaluation
file for the committee to use in writing letters of evaluation.
HPAC also offers "mock" interviews for all applicants.
These "mock" interviews are used by HPAC as a part of
the evaluation process. More importantly, they afford applicants
the opportunity to hone their skills before actual interviews
at the health professions schools. HPAC needs specific biographical
information and has deadlines for its Evaluations and Mock Interviews.
The Texas
Zeta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta is the national honor
society for pre-professional health science students. Our chapter
sponsors regular chapter meetings and an extensive hospital observation
program. For more information about AED activities visit the AED
